What You’ll Do as a Cable Technician

As a Cable Technician at Prime Partners, you’ll be at the heart of our multi-year project in Pflugerville, TX, with additional assignments in nearby cities such as Round Rock, Hutto, and Austin. Your role is crucial in ensuring seamless communication infrastructure by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting cabling systems. This position is practical and hands-on, demanding precision and a keen eye for detail in everyday tasks.

Your Daily Tasks as a Cable Technician

In your day-to-day activities, you’ll install, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cables, primarily within commercial environments. You’ll be responsible for performing cable terminations on patch panels, jacks, and network devices, ensuring all systems are correctly connected and operational. Additionally, you’ll conduct cable testing and certification using industry-standard tools to guarantee performance and compliance with industry standards.

You’ll also be tasked with installing cable pathways such as conduits, raceways, and J-hooks, following safety codes and blueprints to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Close collaboration with project managers and clients is essential to meet project deadlines and maintain high-quality standards. Furthermore, you may be involved in labeling cables and maintaining documentation for all installations, repairs, and maintenance to ensure accurate record-keeping and easy future reference.

What You Need to Be a Cable Technician

To excel in this role, hands-on experience with structured cabling installations and troubleshooting is vital. Proficiency in cable testing, termination, and certification procedures is a must, as is the ability to interpret blueprints and work effectively in active commercial construction sites. You should have at least 2+ years of experience in the field as a Cable Technician, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $23.61-$32.25 per hour, depending on your experience and expertise.
