What You’ll Do as a Cable Technician

As a Cable Technician, you’ll play a vital role in our multi-year project in Mason, OH, with additional projects in nearby cities such as West Chester, Loveland, and Fairfield. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the seamless installation and maintenance of cabling systems that support our clients’ technological infrastructure. This role is hands-on, and you’ll be at the forefront of our operations, working directly on-site in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Your Daily Tasks as a Cable Technician

As a Cable Technician, your day will start with reviewing the project plans and blueprints to understand the layout and requirements. You’ll be responsible for installing, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cables, primarily in commercial environments. Your tasks will include performing cable terminations on patch panels, jacks, and network devices to ensure operational efficiency. Additionally, you’ll conduct cable testing and certification using industry-standard tools to ensure performance and compliance with safety standards.

You’ll also be responsible for installing cable pathways such as conduits, raceways, and J-hooks, adhering strictly to safety codes and blueprints. Collaborating closely with project managers and clients, you’ll work to meet project deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. Beyond these tasks, you might find yourself documenting installation activities, troubleshooting cable issues, and performing regular maintenance checks to prevent service disruptions. Your role is crucial in ensuring that all cabling work is completed accurately and efficiently.

What You Need to Be a Cable Technician

To excel as a Cable Technician at Prime Partners, having hands-on experience with structured cabling installations and troubleshooting is essential. You’ll need proficiency in cable testing, termination, and certification procedures. The ability to interpret blueprints and work effectively in active commercial construction sites is also a must. We require candidates to have at least 2+ years of experience in the field as a Cable Technician.

Key skills include a strong understanding of network infrastructure, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a keen attention to detail. You’ll need to be comfortable working with various hand and power tools and maintain safety standards in all your tasks. Strong communication skills are also important as you’ll interact with team members and clients regularly.
