What You’ll Do as a Cable Technician

As a Cable Technician at Prime Partners, you’ll become an essential part of our team, focused on ensuring seamless communication networks for our clients. Our current project is a multi-year endeavor in Carson, CA, with additional projects in neighboring cities such as Torrance, Long Beach, and Compton. Your role will be hands-on and dynamic, involving the installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems. Your Daily Tasks as a Cable Technician

Your typical day as a Cable Technician will involve a variety of tasks that are crucial to the success of our projects:

• Installation and Maintenance: You’ll install, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cables. Your work will focus on commercial environments, where you’ll ensure that all installations meet industry standards.

• Cable Terminations: Perform precise cable terminations on patch panels, jacks, and network devices, ensuring solid and reliable connections.

• Cable Testing and Certification: Use industry-standard tools to conduct cable testing and certification, ensuring all installations meet performance and compliance standards.

• Pathway Installation: Install cable pathways such as conduits, raceways, and J-hooks, adhering to safety codes and blueprints. This requires both dexterity and an eye for detail.

• Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and clients to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards. Your ability to communicate effectively will be key to the success of our projects.

• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of installations, tests, and any issues encountered, providing detailed reports to project managers.

What You Need to Be a Cable Technician

To excel as a Cable Technician with Prime Partners, you need a blend of experience, skills, and hands-on abilities:

• Experience: At least 2+ years in the field as a Cable Technician, with a proven track record of successful installations and troubleshooting.

• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with structured cabling installations, proficiency in cable testing, termination, and certification procedures. Familiarity with interpreting blueprints and navigating active commercial construction sites is essential.

• Must-Have Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent communication skills are crucial for effective collaboration with colleagues and clients.

Compensation
