Cable Technician Position Overview
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Being a Cable Technician at Prime Partners involves a dynamic and engaging work environment where no two days are the same. Core Cable Technician Responsibilities
Structured Cabling Systems
Your primary responsibility will be to install, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cables, primarily in commercial environments. You’ll be expected to perform precise cable terminations on patch panels, jacks, and network devices.
Advanced Technical Duties
- Fiber Optic Splicing: Perform advanced fiber optic splicing and testing to ensure high-speed data transmission and minimal signal loss.
- Network Configuration: Assist in configuring network devices and systems to optimize performance and connectivity.
- System Integration: Work on integrating cabling systems with existing network infrastructures, ensuring seamless operation across all platforms.
Regional Project Specifics

Qualifications

Essential Certifications
- BICSI Installer Certification
- OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Construction Safety Certification
- Manufacturer-specific certifications for cable and network equipment
Technical Knowledge
You must be able to interpret blueprints and schematics and be comfortable working in active commercial construction sites.
Tools & Equipment
Daily Tools
You will use a variety of tools daily, including cable testers, crimping tools, and punch-down tools. Personal tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, and a multi-tool are required.
Company-Provided Equipment
Prime Partners will provide industry-standard equipment such as ladders, fiber optic splicers, and cable certification testers to ensure you can perform your duties effectively.
Physical Requirements
Lifting and Mobility
Cable Technicians must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and maneuvering in tight spaces. The role requires standing, climbing, and working at heights.
Working Conditions
Expect to work on construction sites and in active commercial environments, where adherence to safety protocols is critical.
