What You’ll Do as a Cable Puller

As a Cable Puller at Prime Partners, you’ll be an essential part of our team working on exciting projects in San Antonio and surrounding areas like New Braunfels, Schertz, and Seguin. Your role will involve hands-on work with low voltage cabling, supporting the installation of state-of-the-art data centers and office networks. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to contribute to our multi-year projects with precision and dedication.

Your Daily Tasks as a Cable Puller

Install and Terminate Cables

You’ll be responsible for installing low voltage cabling, including Ethernet and fiber optic cables, essential for our data centers and office networks. Your day-to-day duties will involve terminating these cables with jacks and patch panels to ensure a reliable connection.

Cable Pathway Installation

Part of your role will include installing cable pathways, such as trays and raceways, to support structured cabling systems. This task requires attention to detail to ensure all installations meet our professional standards.

Testing and Certification

Using network testing equipment, you’ll perform testing and certification of installed cables to confirm their functionality and reliability. This step is crucial for maintaining the integrity of our network systems.

Documenting and Troubleshooting

Working closely with project managers, you’ll document cable runs and label them for system maps. Additionally, you’ll troubleshoot any network connectivity issues that arise during installations and final commissioning, ensuring seamless operation of the network systems.

Additional Daily Activities

• Conducting regular inspections to ensure installations adhere to safety and quality standards.
• Collaborating with team members to optimize cable routing and minimize interference.
• Assisting in the setup and organization of tools and materials needed for efficient project execution.

What You Need to Be a Cable Puller

Essential Skills and Experience

• A minimum of 2+ years of experience in the field as a Cable Puller.
• Proficiency in handling and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables.
• Skilled in using hand tools and cable testing devices for effective installations.
• Knowledge of cable management techniques to ensure professional and organized installations.

Physical and Technical Abilities

• Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve connectivity issues promptly.
• Physical ability to work in confined spaces and elevated environments, ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
• A keen eye for detail and the ability to work independently to achieve project goals.
