Building Automation Technician Position Overview

Core Building Automation Technician Responsibilities

As a Building Automation Technician, you will be responsible for the seamless integration and configuration of building automation systems. This includes programming DDC controls for HVAC systems and ensuring efficient network configuration. Advanced technical duties involve the integration of IoT devices for smart building solutions, optimization of energy management systems, and development of custom control strategies. You’ll work closely with project managers to ensure timely project completion, conducting on-site troubleshooting and maintaining accurate documentation of all installations. Adherence to safety protocols is paramount, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and local regulations.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a minimum of 2-7 years of experience as a Building Automation Technician and possess expertise in systems such as Niagara, Tridium, Distech, Alerton, or JCI Metasys. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and networking systems is essential, alongside a strong understanding of HVAC operations and DDC systems. Essential certifications include a BAS Technician Certificate and OSHA 10 or 30. The ability to interpret electrical diagrams and communicate effectively is crucial. Physical capabilities must include lifting up to 50 lbs and working comfortably on construction sites.

Compensation Package
