What You’ll Do as an Apprentice Electrician

As an Apprentice Electrician with Prime Partners, you’ll be embarking on a hands-on learning journey, contributing to our significant projects in Rapid City, SD. Our current multi-year project involves constructing state-of-the-art retail and warehouse facilities, with additional projects in neighboring cities such as Box Elder, Black Hawk, and Summerset. Your role is crucial in ensuring the electrical systems are installed safely and efficiently. You’ll be working under the expert guidance of seasoned journeymen, gaining vital on-the-job experience while helping power up the future of these communities.

Your Daily Tasks as an Apprentice Electrician

Assist in Electrical System Installations

Your main task will be to assist in installing electrical systems tailored for large-scale retail and warehouse environments. This involves running and securing conduit (such as EMT and PVC) and ensuring all installations are up to code.

Pull, Terminate, and Label Wiring

You’ll be responsible for pulling, terminating, and labeling wiring for lighting and power circuits. This ensures seamless and safe electrical flow throughout the facilities.

Install and Test Control Systems

Helping with the installation and testing of control systems is part of your daily routine. This includes systems for HVAC, security, and automated doors, making sure they function correctly and efficiently.

Organize Tools and Materials

Prepare your work areas by organizing tools, equipment, and materials. Efficient organization ensures that operations run smoothly and safely.

Follow Blueprints and Troubleshoot

You’ll follow blueprints and detailed instructions to assist with lighting installations and equipment wiring. Additionally, you’ll learn to troubleshoot basic issues in electrical circuits and control systems, honing your problem-solving skills.

Additional Daily Activities

• Regularly check and maintain tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
• Participate actively in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols.

What You Need to Be an Apprentice Electrician

Experience and Skills

• 1-4 years of experience in the field as an Apprentice Electrician.
• Proficient in handling and installing conduit and wiring in a structured environment.
• Comfortable working at heights using ladders and lifts.
• Strong organizational skills to manage tools and job site materials efficiently.
• Eagerness to learn the basics of control systems and power distribution.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions meticulously while adhering to safety standards.
