What You’ll Do as an Apprentice Electrician

As an Apprentice Electrician, you’ll be an integral part of our team working on exciting multi-year projects in Fargo, ND, and nearby cities such as West Fargo, Moorhead, and Dilworth. Your role will be essential in supporting the installation and maintenance of electrical systems, particularly focused on renewable energy solutions. Your Daily Tasks as an Apprentice Electrician

Assist in Solar and Electrical Installations

Your main responsibility will be assisting in the installation of rooftop solar arrays, battery systems, and EV chargers on commercial properties. You’ll work closely with skilled electricians to set up systems that contribute to sustainable energy solutions.

Run and Secure Conduit for DC Wiring

You’ll help in running and securing conduit for DC wiring from solar modules to inverters. This involves practical tasks such as measuring, cutting, and fitting conduit to ensure a safe and efficient electrical system.

Perform Basic Wiring and Connections

You’ll get hands-on experience in performing basic wiring tasks, including terminating PV modules and connecting battery storage systems. Under supervision, you’ll learn to test and troubleshoot solar inverters and monitoring systems, gaining valuable skills in problem-solving and system optimization.

Organize and Prepare Materials

Material preparation will be part of your daily routine. You’ll coordinate the pre-assembly of racking systems and ensure that all tools and materials are organized and ready for use, contributing to a smooth workflow on site.

Adhere to Safety Protocols

Safety is our top priority. You’ll follow strict safety procedures for rooftop work, including the use of fall protection equipment. Regular safety briefings and adherence to guidelines ensure a safe working environment for you and your team.

What You Need to Be an Apprentice Electrician

Basic Electrical Knowledge

A solid understanding of basic electrical principles, particularly DC power systems, is crucial. This foundational knowledge will be expanded through on-the-job learning and training.

Willingness to Work Outdoors

Be prepared to work outdoors on rooftops in varying weather conditions. Your adaptability and resilience will be key, as the job often requires physical stamina and a positive attitude in challenging environments.

Technical and Organizational Skills

You’ll need to follow technical instructions for assembling and wiring renewable energy systems accurately. Strong organizational skills are essential for effective material handling and job site preparation.

Hands-On Experience and Skills

Comfort with hand tools and basic testing equipment is necessary. Ideally, you should have 1-4 years of experience in the field as an Apprentice Electrician, with a focus on hands-on abilities and a willingness to learn.
