Industrial Electrician at Oak Electrical

Oak Electrical is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to join our team in New Orleans, LA. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of automated and process-controlled systems within our manufacturing facilities. As a crucial member of our team, you’ll work in a vibrant city surrounded by neighboring communities like Metairie, Kenner, and Slidell. Your expertise will support the backbone of our operations, contributing to the reliability and efficiency of our electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Program and troubleshoot Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
• Commission automated production lines to optimize efficiency.
• Perform root cause analysis on system failures to prevent downtime.
• Implement predictive maintenance programs using vibration analysis and thermal imaging.
• Design and install complex motor control circuits for various applications.
• Manage electrical spare parts inventory ensuring availability and cost-effectiveness.
• Train apprentices on industrial systems, providing hands-on guidance and mentorship.
• Coordinate with equipment manufacturers for complex repairs, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Develop standard operating procedures for maintenance tasks to enhance reliability.
• Perform power quality analysis and harmonic mitigation to meet industry standards.
• Collaborate with local utility companies to ensure compliance with Louisiana energy regulations.
• Address local environmental considerations, adhering to New Orleans-specific EPA guidelines.
• Support hurricane preparedness by ensuring electrical systems are safeguarded against severe weather.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced certification in Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC programming.
• Demonstrated experience with industrial networking protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profibus).
• Expertise in VFD programming and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with thermal imaging and vibration analysis equipment.
• Ability to read and create AutoCAD electrical drawings.
• Experience with SCADA systems and HMI programming.
• Proven leadership skills in a maintenance environment.
• Understanding of IEEE standards for industrial power quality.
• 5+ years of experience required for Journeyman work in an industrial setting.
• Familiarity with New Orleans’ specific electrical codes and standards.
• Experience in managing projects in coastal environments, addressing unique geographical challenges.
