The Apprentice Electrician Position

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Electrician at Oak Electrical, your role is dynamic and crucial to the success of our projects. You will assist licensed electricians in installing and maintaining electrical systems, ensuring that all work meets Oak Electrical’s high standards of safety and quality. Your daily tasks will include wiring outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures, pulling and routing electrical cables, and preparing conduits. You will be actively involved in maintaining job site organization and managing inventory, which are essential for smooth project execution.

Core Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities

• Assist licensed electricians with the installation of electrical systems, including wiring for outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures.
• Pull and route electrical cables through walls, ceilings, and conduits.
• Prepare conduit and assist in mounting electrical boxes and panels.
• Maintain job site organization, including inventory management and tool preparation.
• Perform basic tasks like wire labeling and clean-up to support project progress.
• Shadow experienced electricians to gain hands-on knowledge and develop skills in electrical installations and safety practices.

Advanced Technical Duties

• Interpret blueprints and technical diagrams to assist in the planning and execution of electrical installations.
• Conduct basic troubleshooting of electrical systems to identify and resolve issues under the supervision of licensed electricians.
• Participate in the installation of energy-efficient systems, such as solar panels and smart home technologies.
• Assist in the testing and inspection of electrical systems to ensure compliance with local codes and standards.

Regional Project Specifics

• Engage in projects that incorporate sustainable energy solutions in St. Petersburg.
• Participate in residential upgrades focusing on smart home technology in Clearwater.
• Work on commercial retrofitting projects in Largo to enhance energy efficiency.

Safety Protocols

• Adhere to OSHA safety standards and company-specific safety protocols at all times.
• Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including gloves, helmets, and eye protection.

Required Experience & Skills

• Basic understanding of electrical systems and hand tools.
• Strong physical stamina and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and instructions.
• 0-2 years minimum experience as an Apprentice Electrician.
• Essential certifications: OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety, CPR and First Aid.
• Required technical knowledge: basic electrical theory, circuit diagrams, and safety practices.

Tools & Equipment

• Daily tools: wire strippers, pliers, screwdrivers, multimeters.
• Required personal tools: tool belt, basic hand tools.
• Company-provided equipment: power tools, ladders, safety gear.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Work in various conditions, including heights and confined spaces.
• Safety gear needed: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots.
