You’ll be diving into commercial projects not just in Denton, but also in nearby cities like Lewisville, Flower Mound, and Frisco. This is an entry-level gig, perfect for anyone eager to learn about electrical systems, lighting controls, and life safety installations. You’ll be learning from the pros, working under the supervision of a journeyman, and getting a real feel for what it’s like to work on commercial sites. Plus, you’ll need to juggle this with your apprenticeship classes—it’s all about learning and growing!

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Assist with installing electrical systems and learn the ropes of commercial wiring methods.
• Support power distribution projects and help with lighting control programming.
• Install conduit and cable pathways and keep track of material inventory.
• Operate lift equipment under supervision and assist with fire alarm installations.
• Document your daily work activities and support panel installations and testing.
• Get the basics of building automation down and coordinate with other tradespeople.

For the Denton area, you’ll also:

• Help out on a big upcoming project at the Denton County Courthouse.
• Adapt to regional requirements for Texas, making sure everything’s up to code.
• Be ready for some weekend work when things get busy.

Required Qualifications

To be considered, you’ll need:

• A high school diploma or GED and enrollment in a state-approved apprenticeship program.
• Some basic electrical knowledge and the ability to read construction drawings.
• Proficiency with hand tools and a valid driver’s license.
• The physical ability to lift heavy materials and good communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and a commitment to keep learning.

For voice data work in a commercial setting, we’re looking for 1-5 years of experience. In Denton, it’ll also be great if you’re familiar with local building codes and have some experience working in our vibrant community.
