Security Technician at M3 Technology

M3 Technology is seeking a dedicated and skilled Security Technician to join our team in Johnston, IA. This position focuses on data center infrastructure, particularly in the installation and maintenance of critical facility cabling. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of structured cabling systems, fiber optics, and data center standards. Johnston is conveniently located near Des Moines, Ankeny, and Urbandale, offering a vibrant setting for our expanding operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and certify structured cabling systems in alignment with industry standards.
• Perform fiber optic terminations and testing to ensure optimal data transmission.
• Implement data center cable management techniques to maintain efficient operations.
• Coordinate pathway installations to support infrastructure expansions.
• Maintain rigorous clean room protocols during all installations and repairs.
• Operate cable certification equipment to validate installation integrity.
• Install overhead cable tray systems for organized cable management.
• Document testing results and warranties for all systems installed.
• Execute high-density rack cabling to support increased data center demands.
• Maintain separation in hot aisle/cold aisle environments to ensure system efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with local and state data center standards specific to Iowa.
• Support the development of the “Johnston Expansion Project,” a major upcoming initiative in the area.

Required Qualifications

• BICSI Installer 1 certification is mandatory.
• Demonstrated experience with structured cabling systems and data center infrastructure.
• Proficiency in fiber optic installation and cable testing equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of TIA standards and technical documentation best practices.
• Proven ability to read and interpret cable drawings.
• 1-3 years of experience in security work within a commercial setting.
• Familiarity with regional codes and compliance requirements in Johnston, IA.
• Residency or willingness to relocate within proximity to Johnston for on-site project commitments.
