The Electrical Trainee Position

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As an Electrical Trainee at LEI Electrical, your days will be filled with hands-on learning and application of electrical principles. You will assist licensed electricians with wiring installations, ensuring all work complies with local and national electrical codes. Your role will involve preparing materials for job sites, helping with panel wiring and mounting, and performing routine safety checks on tools and equipment.

Core Electrical Trainee Responsibilities

  • Support Licensed Electricians: Assist with wiring installations and conduit preparation, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to standard.
  • Advanced Technical Duties: Learn to troubleshoot electrical issues, assist in the installation of complex systems, and understand the intricacies of energy-efficient technologies specific to California regulations.
  • Regional Project Specifics: Engage in projects unique to the Montebello region, such as solar panel installations and electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Safety Protocols: Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the implementation of lockout/tagout procedures.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Experience: 0-3 years minimum experience as an Electrical Trainee, with a strong willingness to learn on the job.
  • Certifications: OSHA 10-hour certification is preferred; CPR and first aid certifications are a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic familiarity with hand tools like wire strippers and voltage testers, with a solid understanding of electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Physical Ability: Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders safely.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills are essential for success in our collaborative environment.

Tools & Equipment

  • Daily Tools: Trainees regularly use wire strippers, pliers, voltage testers, and conduit benders.
  • Personal Tools: Required personal tools include a reliable set of screwdrivers, a measuring tape, and a multimeter.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Working Conditions: Work in various conditions, including outdoor sites, high places, and confined spaces.
  • Safety Gear: Mandatory use of safety glasses, hard hats, gloves, and steel-toed boots on all job sites.
