What You’ll Do as a Journeyman Electrician
As a Journeyman Electrician at JP Electric, you will play a crucial role in our multi-year project in Anderson, SC, with opportunities to work on additional projects in nearby cities such as Belton, Honea Path, Williamston, and Pendleton. Your day-to-day work will involve installing and maintaining complex electrical systems in commercial settings. You’ll be a key player in ensuring that our projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This role requires a hands-on approach and a solid understanding of electrical systems and codes.
Your Daily Tasks as a Journeyman Electrician
System Installation and Maintenance
Your primary responsibility will be the installation and maintenance of commercial electrical systems. This includes working with switchgear, transformers, lighting fixtures, and power circuits. You will need to accurately measure, cut, and bend conduit (EMT, rigid) for system installations, ensuring all components are aligned to meet specifications.
Wire Management and Troubleshooting
You will perform wire pulling, labeling, and termination, ensuring neat and secure connections that comply with NEC code requirements. Troubleshooting electrical issues will be a regular part of your day, using tools like multimeters to diagnose and resolve problems efficiently.
Collaboration and Supervision
Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with other trades to plan and execute electrical installations within construction schedules. Supervising apprentices and providing guidance on proper techniques and safety practices will be part of your leadership duties. Additionally, maintaining organized and clean job sites is essential, adhering to all safety and operational standards.
Additional Daily Activities
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical systems to ensure functionality and safety.
- Participate in safety meetings and briefings, contributing to a culture of safety awareness.

What You Need to Be a Journeyman Electrician
Required Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this position, you must hold a valid journeyman electrician license and have 3-5 years of experience in the field. An in-depth knowledge of NEC codes is essential, along with proficiency in conduit bending and using electrical tools. Strong troubleshooting skills are crucial, as is the ability to lead and manage apprentices and teams effectively.
