The Audio Visual Technician Position

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As an Audio Visual Technician at IES Electric, your daily responsibilities will include the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of state-of-the-art AV systems. You’ll work closely with clients to ensure their audio-visual needs are met with precision and efficiency.

Core Audio Visual Technician Responsibilities

Installation and Setup

  • Install and configure a wide array of audio-visual systems, including projectors, monitors, speakers, and microphones, primarily in commercial settings.
  • Route and terminate low-voltage cabling, ensuring precise labeling and secure connections.

Equipment Mounting and Testing

  • Mount and secure equipment such as displays, ceiling speakers, and wall control panels.
  • Conduct on-site system testing, verifying sound quality, video clarity, and overall functionality.

Troubleshooting and Collaboration

  • Diagnose and resolve connectivity and performance issues, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal system operation.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to seamlessly integrate AV systems into broader project plans.

Advanced Technical Duties

  • Program and calibrate AV systems for optimal performance.
  • Implement advanced control systems for integrated AV solutions.
  • Design custom AV solutions tailored to client-specific requirements.
  • Lead complex AV installations in high-demand environments.

Regional Project Specifics

Adhere to stringent safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and compliance with industry safety standards, to ensure safe working conditions on all job sites.

Required Experience & Skills

Experience and Expertise

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in audio-visual installations, demonstrating a strong understanding of AV system components and connectivity standards.
  • Essential certifications: CTS (Certified Technology Specialist), OSHA 10, and Infocomm Training.

Technical Knowledge

  • Proficiency in routing and terminating low-voltage cabling with attention to detail in mounting and alignment.
  • Strong communication skills for effective client interactions and teamwork.

Tools & Equipment

Daily Tools

  • Use of multimeters, fiber testers, and cable crimpers is essential for daily tasks.
  • Personal tools required: basic hand tools, soldering kits, and cable strippers.

Company-Provided Equipment

IES Electric provides specialized equipment such as signal generators and network analyzers to support your work on advanced AV projects.

Physical Requirements

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
