The Electrical Trainee Position

Core Electrical Trainee Responsibilities

As an Electrical Trainee, your primary duties will involve supporting licensed electricians with essential tasks such as wiring installations, conduit cutting and threading, and material preparation for job sites. You’ll assist in panel wiring and mounting, conducting routine safety checks on tools and equipment, and maintaining clean and organized work areas. Advanced technical duties will include:

• Assisting in the setup and testing of circuit breakers and transformers.
• Learning to interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints under supervision.
• Supporting the installation of advanced electrical systems, including green energy solutions like solar panels.

Our projects often involve high-rise buildings and smart home installations, requiring stringent adherence to safety protocols. You will be expected to follow OSHA guidelines and company-specific safety measures to ensure a secure working environment.

Required Experience & Skills

To succeed as an Electrical Trainee at Howell Electric, you should possess a basic familiarity with hand tools such as wire strippers and voltage testers. A strong willingness to learn, coupled with the ability to follow detailed safety protocols, is essential. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are crucial, as is the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces. While 0-3 years of experience as an Electrical Trainee is preferred, essential certifications such as OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR are required. You should also have a basic understanding of electrical theory and circuitry.

Tools & Equipment

Our Electrical Trainees use a variety of tools daily, including but not limited to:

• Screwdrivers, pliers, and multimeters
• Wire strippers and crimpers
• Voltage testers and continuity testers

Trainees are expected to have personal tools like a tool belt and basic hand tools, while Howell Electric provides specialized equipment such as power drills and oscilloscopes.

Physical Requirements

The role of an Electrical Trainee involves physical demands such as lifting equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, working in confined and elevated spaces, and performing tasks in varying weather conditions. Proper safety gear, including hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves, is mandatory to protect against potential hazards.

Compensation Package
