The Journeyman Electrician Position

Joining our team as a Journeyman Electrician means stepping into a role filled with dynamic challenges and opportunities for growth. On a day-to-day basis, you will engage in a variety of tasks ranging from installation and maintenance to troubleshooting complex electrical systems. Our projects span across different environments, including commercial buildings, renewable energy sites, and more. Core Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities

As a Journeyman Electrician at FSG, your core responsibilities will include:

• Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting renewable energy systems for commercial properties, focusing on solar panels, energy storage systems, and inverters.
• Routing and installing conduit (EMT, rigid) and wiring for high-voltage DC and AC systems.
• Performing system testing and commissioning for solar arrays, ensuring optimal energy output and compliance with local regulations, especially in regions like Irvine and Huntington Beach.
• Collaborating with engineers and project managers to design and implement energy-efficient electrical solutions.
• Installing and maintaining battery energy storage systems (BESS) and integrating them with building power systems.
• Conducting preventive maintenance on renewable energy equipment, replacing faulty components, and ensuring proper grounding.
• Supervising apprentices, ensuring adherence to safety standards and proper installation techniques.
• Preparing detailed reports on system performance and maintenance activities.

Advanced technical duties include:

• Designing circuit layouts for complex solar installations.
• Implementing advanced energy management systems in commercial settings.
• Conducting detailed energy audits and recommending solutions for efficiency improvements.
• Ensuring compliance with evolving regional energy codes and standards.

Safety is paramount at FSG, and all team members are expected to adhere strictly to safety protocols, participate in regular safety training, and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.

Required Experience & Skills

Candidates must possess a valid California Journeyman Certification from the Department of Industrial Relations. You should have extensive knowledge of the NEC and renewable energy codes, particularly those related to solar and battery storage. Experience with solar panel installations, inverters, and high-voltage DC systems is essential. Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as multimeters and megohmmeters is required, along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are crucial for troubleshooting and optimizing systems.

• Minimum 4+ years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Essential certifications include OSHA 30, CPR, and First Aid.
• Required technical knowledge covers advanced solar and battery systems, high-voltage installations, and energy management solutions.

Tools & Equipment

Daily tools for our Journeyman Electricians include multimeters, wire strippers, conduit benders, and crimping tools. Personal tools required are screwdrivers, pliers, and wire cutters. FSG provides specialized equipment such as testing meters and safety gear necessary for on-site work.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in various conditions, including confined spaces and heights. Safety gear such as hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses are mandatory.

Compensation Package

We offer a competitive salary range of $32.71-$37.66 per hour, depending on experience, with opportunities for career advancement.
