Fire Alarm Installer at Enhanced Voice & Data

Enhanced Voice & Data is seeking a dedicated and skilled Fire Alarm Installation Technician for our operations in Honolulu, HI. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team focused on installing sophisticated fire alarm systems in commercial buildings across the Honolulu area, with projects extending to neighboring cities such as Pearl City, Kailua, and Waipahu. This role requires a deep understanding of fire alarm system components, including control panels, initiating devices, and notification appliances, and offers exposure to a wide variety of system types and advancement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install fire alarm control panels and devices in compliance with industry standards.
• Pull and terminate fire alarm cables while maintaining proper color coding and labeling.
• Mount notification appliances and initiating devices according to blueprint specifications.
• Assist with system programming and testing to ensure functionality and compliance with NFPA 72.
• Maintain detailed point-to-point wiring documentation for all installations.
• Coordinate with other trades to ensure accurate device placement in active construction sites.
• Perform pre-wire and trim-out phases to prepare systems for final testing.
• Install conduit and cable pathways efficiently and safely.
• Troubleshoot system wiring issues and perform necessary repairs.
• Assist with final testing and inspections to meet project deadlines.
• Coordinate with local inspectors to ensure compliance with Honolulu-specific building codes.
• Engage in large upcoming projects such as the Ala Moana Center redevelopment to enhance fire safety infrastructure.
• Ensure installations meet the regulatory requirements specific to the state of Hawaii.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in commercial fire alarm system installation.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
• Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA 72 requirements and fire alarm circuit types.
• Experience with basic programming of fire alarm systems and the ability to use multimeters and other testing equipment.
• Demonstrated attention to detail in documentation and voltage drop calculations.
• Excellent communication skills to facilitate coordination with project teams and inspectors.
• Familiarity with local Honolulu building codes and regulations.
• Ability to work in diverse weather conditions prevalent in Honolulu.
• Experience navigating the logistical challenges of working on construction sites in urban areas like downtown Honolulu.
