Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust fiber optic networks tailored to enterprise needs, incorporating both single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
  • Execute precision fusion splicing operations to ensure optimal connectivity and minimal signal loss.
  • Conduct comprehensive OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) testing to certify and validate the integrity of fiber installations.
  • Maintain meticulous records of splice documentation to support ongoing network management and maintenance.
  • Install and configure fiber distribution systems, ensuring alignment with DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) systems for high-capacity data transmission.
  • Implement and manage fiber management systems, optimizing network performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate pathway installations with local municipalities and utilities, adhering to all regional regulations and requirements specific to Texas.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring safety and efficiency during all installations and repairs.
  • Respond promptly to emergency restoration situations, providing swift and effective resolution to minimize network downtime.
  • Mentor and train junior technicians, fostering a culture of learning and professional development within the team.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders on the Pearland Business Communication Revitalization Initiative to meet project timelines and objectives.
  • Assist in the procurement and inventory management of fiber optic materials and equipment, ensuring availability for ongoing and future projects.
  • Conduct site surveys in the Pearland area to assess infrastructure needs and provide detailed recommendations for network enhancements.
  • Engage with local business owners and community leaders to promote understanding and adoption of advanced fiber optic technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • FOA (Fiber Optic Association) certification is mandatory, demonstrating a recognized standard of fiber optic knowledge and skills.
  • Extensive experience in fusion splicing and a proven track record in OTDR testing, showcasing an ability to deliver high-quality fiber optic solutions.
  • Advanced understanding of fiber types, including single-mode, multi-mode, and their applications within enterprise networks.
  • Certification in multiple splice platforms, ensuring versatility in handling various fiber optic systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, essential for diagnosing and resolving complex network issues.
  • Experience with documentation systems to accurately record and manage fiber network data.
  • Proven track record in emergency response situations, demonstrating an ability to act swiftly and effectively.
  • 2-5 years of experience in fiber work within a commercial setting, emphasizing a deep understanding of enterprise network demands.
  • Familiarity with local Pearland regulations and standards related to fiber optic installations.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between job sites in Pearland and surrounding areas.
