Data Center Technician at Enhanced Voice & Data

Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring that our data center infrastructure is operating at peak efficiency, supporting essential services throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain critical data center infrastructure, including power distribution units, UPS systems, and HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
• Perform server installations and decommissions, ensuring that all equipment is securely mounted and configured according to company standards.
• Manage cable plant documentation, ensuring that all cabling is clearly labeled, organized, and documented for easy future reference.
• Implement hot/cold aisle containment strategies to improve cooling efficiency and reduce energy costs.
• Coordinate maintenance windows with minimal disruption to services, collaborating with vendors and internal teams to schedule and execute necessary maintenance tasks.
• Perform power circuit installations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and load requirements.
• Maintain battery backup systems, regularly testing and replacing batteries to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
• Monitor environmental controls, using DCIM platforms to track temperature, humidity, and other critical environmental factors.
• Execute change management procedures, documenting all changes to systems and infrastructure to maintain accurate records.
• Manage equipment lifecycle, overseeing the procurement, deployment, and decommissioning of data center equipment.
• Perform network hardware installations, including routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring robust and secure network operations.
• Maintain security protocols, implementing and monitoring physical and network security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Coordinate with local utility providers for seamless service integration and compliance with regional power regulations specific to Florida.
• Lead a large upcoming project focusing on the expansion of data center facilities in Miami Springs, with a focus on sustainable and energy-efficient technologies.
• Oversee disaster recovery planning and implementation, ensuring that backup and recovery systems are in place and regularly tested.

Required Qualifications

• BICSI Data Center Technician certification preferred, with a proven track record in critical infrastructure management.
• Demonstrated experience dressing and terminating cables, with a keen eye for detail and organization.
• Proficiency with DCIM systems, including experience with environmental monitoring and alerting.
• Strong documentation skills, with the ability to maintain detailed and accurate records of all data center activities.
• Experience with change management procedures, ensuring that all changes are executed smoothly and documented thoroughly.
• Clean background check required to obtain necessary security clearance.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a commercial data center environment.
• Familiarity with Florida-specific building codes and regulations related to data center operations.
• Ability to work effectively in the humid and warm climate of Miami Springs, adapting to the unique environmental challenges of the region.
