Data Center Technician at Direct Connect

Direct Connect is seeking a dedicated Data Center Operations Technician to join our team in College Station, TX. This role is crucial for maintaining our critical facility management and infrastructure systems. The position will serve the College Station area and nearby cities such as Bryan, Navasota, and Hearne, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a significant upcoming project, the Brazos Valley Data Hub, which aims to enhance data processing capacity in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain critical data center infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance of power, cooling, and environmental systems.
  • Perform server installations, decommissions, and manage comprehensive cable plant documentation.
  • Implement hot/cold aisle containment strategies to optimize cooling efficiency.
  • Coordinate maintenance windows to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
  • Execute power circuit installations and maintain battery backup systems for uninterrupted service.
  • Monitor environmental controls using DCIM platforms, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Execute change management procedures and manage equipment lifecycle, ensuring all updates and decommissions are documented accurately.
  • Perform network hardware installations and maintain stringent security protocols.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans specific to the College Station area, including collaboration with local emergency services.
  • Coordinate with local utility providers to ensure compliance with Texas energy efficiency standards.
  • Support the Brazos Valley Data Hub project by integrating new systems and technologies into existing infrastructures.

Required Qualifications

  • BICSI Data Center Technician certification preferred, with proven experience in critical infrastructure management.
  • Proficiency in dressing and terminating cables, with strong skills in utilizing DCIM systems for monitoring and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with change management procedures, ensuring seamless transitions and updates.
  • Must pass a clean background check, with the ability to obtain security clearance.
  • 3-5 years of experience required working in commercial data center environments.
  • Familiarity with Texas state regulations regarding power and environmental systems.
  • Experience with regional emergency preparedness plans and protocols.
