Data Center Cable Tech at Direct Connect

Direct Connect, a leading provider of data center solutions, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Data Center Cable Technician to join our team in Mishawaka, IN. This role involves working in state-of-the-art data center environments, focusing on structured cabling installation and maintenance. The position offers opportunities for growth and development within our organization. Our operations in Mishawaka extend to neighboring cities such as South Bend, Elkhart, and Goshen, where you will also perform various projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and dress Category 6/6A cabling systems in accordance with industry standards.
• Terminate copper and fiber connections, ensuring high-quality performance.
• Maintain proper cable management in server racks and install overhead cable tray and ladder racks.
• Perform cable testing and certification to ensure system integrity.
• Document test results and warranties, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
• Adhere to clean room protocols and organize patch panel layouts efficiently.
• Implement proper cable routing and separation techniques to optimize system performance.
• Assist with fiber trunk installation across multiple sites in the Mishawaka area.
• Develop and maintain a detailed labeling system for all cabling components.
• Collaborate with teams on the upcoming “Northern Indiana Data Center Expansion” project, a significant initiative in the region.
• Comply with all local and state regulations specific to Indiana for data center operations.

Required Qualifications

• BICSI Installer 1 certification is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated experience with structured cabling systems and proficiency in cable termination techniques.
• Strong knowledge of testing procedures and cable management best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret network drawings accurately.
• Experience with labeling systems and a keen attention to detail.
• A basic understanding of network hardware and its application.
• 1-3 years of experience in voice and data work within a commercial setting is required.
• Familiarity with regional standards and practices specific to the Mishawaka area.
• Ability to work independently and in a team across the Mishawaka, South Bend, and Elkhart regions.
