As a Cable Installation Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of structured cabling systems, ensuring all work meets industry standards and client expectations.
Qualifications
- BICSI Installer 1 Certification: This certification demonstrates your foundational knowledge and skills in cabling installation and is essential for ensuring high-quality work that meets industry standards.
- OSHA-10 Certification: Safety is our top priority, and this certification ensures that you have the necessary training to maintain a safe work environment.
- Scissor Lift Certification: In this role, you may need to access high or difficult-to-reach areas. This certification confirms your ability to safely operate a scissor lift.
- Experience with Fluke Testing Equipment: Proficiency with Fluke testing equipment is required to accurately assess cable performance and ensure installations meet the required specifications.
- Knowledge of TIA/EIA Standards: Understanding these standards is crucial for ensuring that all installations are up to code and meet the required specifications for telecommunications infrastructure.
- Physical Ability to Lift 50+ lbs: The role requires physical stamina and strength, as you will be moving and installing heavy cabling and equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License: Some travel between job sites is required, and a valid driver’s license is necessary for operating company vehicles.
Experience required: 0-2 years of experience in low voltage work in a commercial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and Terminate CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6A Cabling: Handle the installation and termination of various types of cabling, ensuring connections are secure and performance is optimized.
- Maintain Cable Management Systems: Organize and manage cabling to ensure a tidy and accessible setup, minimizing the risk of interference or damage.
- Perform Cable Testing and Certification: Use testing equipment to verify cable integrity and performance, certifying that all installations meet necessary standards.
- Pull Cable Through Various Pathways: Efficiently route cables through designated pathways, ensuring compliance with pathway requirements and minimizing disruptions.
- Document Cable Installations: Keep accurate records of all installations, including layouts and configurations, to ensure easy maintenance and troubleshooting in the future.
