The General Foreman Position

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a General Foreman at Collins Electrical, your day-to-day responsibilities will include overseeing the civil scope of medium to large-scale electrical projects, particularly electric vehicle (EV) charging station installations. You’ll supervise multiple crews, ensuring each aspect of the project, from excavation to the final touch of asphalt work, adheres to our high standards. Your role will involve not just managing tasks but also inspiring your team to achieve excellence every day.

Core General Foreman Responsibilities

Project Management and Supervision

You will oversee and manage the civil scope of work for medium to large-scale electrical projects. This includes supervising multiple crews performing tasks such as excavation, backfill, rebar work, concrete pouring, bollard installation, asphalt work, and other civil duties.

Advanced Technical Duties

• Implement advanced site layout techniques using GPS and laser technologies for precision in excavation and construction tasks.
• Conduct detailed analysis and troubleshooting of project plans to identify potential issues and implement proactive solutions.
• Engage in complex stakeholder communication to streamline project execution and ensure all parties are aligned with project goals.

Regional Project Specifics

Our projects often require compliance with regional regulations and standards. You will ensure that all work complies with the California Building Code and local ordinances, particularly those related to EV infrastructure.

Safety Protocols

Safety is paramount. You’ll conduct regular toolbox talks, enforce safety standards, and ensure all crew certifications and equipment are compliant. You’ll also monitor environmental conditions, ensuring adherence to SWIPPs for stormwater management and site cleanliness.

Required Experience & Skills

Experience and Leadership

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience as a lead project foreman in commercial civil construction.
• Proven track record in leading teams for excavation, concrete, rebar, asphalt, and similar civil tasks.

Certifications and Technical Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of the California Building Code and OSHA safety standards.
• Essential certifications include OSHA 30-hour and First Aid/CPR.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction project management software like Site Tracker.

Tools & Equipment

You’ll use a variety of tools, including laser levels, tape measures, and power tools. Personal tools such as a reliable tool belt and steel-toed boots are essential.
