The Electrical Foreman Position
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As an Electrical Foreman at ChargePoint, you will lead the charge in managing field operations for the installation and maintenance of EV charging stations. Your day-to-day tasks will include overseeing the installation of commercial electrical systems, planning and delegating tasks to journeymen and apprentices, and ensuring all work complies with safety standards and project designs. Your role will involve performing hands-on tasks such as conduit bending, wire pulling, and terminations, while also troubleshooting and resolving any electrical issues that arise.

Core Electrical Foreman Responsibilities
- Lead Field Operations: Direct the installation and maintenance of EV charging stations, ensuring compliance with project designs and safety standards.
- Oversee Commercial Electrical Systems: Manage the installation of service panels, transformers, and conduit systems while ensuring adherence to NEC and California Electric Code standards.
- Plan and Allocate Tasks: Organize daily activities for journeymen and apprentices to maximize efficiency and maintain safety protocols.
- Advanced Technical Duties: Perform complex diagnostics using tools like multimeters and megohmmeters, oversee advanced conduit configurations, and ensure precise terminations.
- Regional Project Specifics: Work on projects in San Pedro and neighboring cities, adapting to varying municipal regulations and site conditions.
- Safety Protocols: Conduct regular safety meetings, enforce stop work authority in case of unsafe conditions, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years as an Electrical Foreman, with at least 5 years in commercial electrical work.
- Certifications: Active journeyman electrician certification from the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Extensive understanding of NEC and California Electric Code, with hands-on experience in EV charging station installations.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to mentor apprentices and manage field teams efficiently.
- Additional Requirements: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and familiarity with construction management software like Site Tracker.
Tools & Equipment
- Daily Tools: Multimeters, conduit benders, wire strippers, and testing equipment.
- Personal Tools: Journeymen must provide their own set of hand tools, including pliers, screwdrivers, and wrenches.
- Company-Provided Equipment: Specialized tools and safety gear are provided to ensure high-quality and safe operations.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Working Conditions: Work in various environments, including outdoor sites and construction zones.
- Safety Gear: Hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots are required on all job sites.
