What You’ll Do as a Mechanical Field Service Technician
As a Mechanical Field Service Technician at Burdett Hill, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our multi-year project in Hayes, VA, with additional work in neighboring cities such as Gloucester, Yorktown, and Williamsburg. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and repair equipment, ensuring our projects run efficiently and effectively.
Your Daily Tasks as a Mechanical Field Service Technician
Your day-to-day tasks will include removing and reinstalling motors, pumps, and gearboxes. You’ll utilize your rigging skills to safely maneuver heavy equipment into place. Precision alignment of rotating machinery using dial indicators and laser alignment tools will be a regular part of your routine. Diagnosing mechanical failures and providing proactive solutions will keep you engaged and challenged. Additionally, you’ll conduct routine inspections to detect wear and tear, perform scheduled maintenance to prevent equipment downtime, and collaborate with project engineers to optimize mechanical systems.
What You Need to Be a Mechanical Field Service Technician
To excel in this role, you should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical environments. A solid understanding of industrial safety practices and rigging is essential. You must be physically capable of working long hours and lifting up to 50 pounds. Key skills include proficiency in reading mechanical and engineering diagrams, hands-on experience with mechanical tools and instruments, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Compensation
At Burdett Hill, we offer a competitive salary range of $30.71 to $41.25 per hour, depending on your experience.
