The Journeyman Electrician Position

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Journeyman Electrician at Bidram Electric, you will engage in a variety of tasks that ensure the seamless execution of our projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, with a strong focus on EV charging stations. You will collaborate closely with project managers and other trades to ensure timely and efficient project completion.

Core Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities

• Installation and Maintenance: Focus on EV charging stations, service panels, transformers, and related components, ensuring all installations comply with NEC and California Electric Code standards.
• Conduit Work: Measure, cut, and bend conduit (EMT, rigid) with precision, ensuring alignment and installation integrity.
• Wiring and Termination: Pull, label, and terminate wiring, maintaining organized connections and conducting load calculations for EV infrastructure.
• System Testing: Conduct thorough testing to verify system performance, safety, and compliance with site specifications.
• Collaboration and Supervision: Work with project managers and other trades to meet construction schedules and supervise apprentices, mentoring them in EV-specific systems.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations and site activities, submitting daily reports as required.
• Advanced Technical Duties: Perform complex load calculations, install advanced control systems, and troubleshoot sophisticated electrical issues specific to regional projects.
• Safety Protocols: Adhere to strict safety protocols, ensuring the use of personal protective equipment and compliance with OSHA standards.

Required Experience & Skills

• Certification: Active and valid journeyman electrician certification from the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years as a Journeyman Electrician with specific experience in EV charging station installations.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of NEC and California Electric Code, proficiency with conduit bending tools, multimeters, and the ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and diagrams.
• Leadership and Communication: Proven leadership skills in supervising apprentices, with excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Tools & Equipment

• Daily Tools: Familiarity with conduit benders, wire strippers, multimeters, and voltage testers is essential.
• Personal Tools: Journeyman Electricians are expected to have a personal set of screwdrivers, pliers, and other hand tools.
