What You’ll Do as an Electrical Foreman

As an Electrical Foreman at Bidram Electric, you’ll play a vital role in leading our field operations for a multi-year project in Santa Fe Springs, CA, with opportunities to work on additional projects in nearby cities like Norwalk, Whittier, and La Mirada. Your primary focus will be on overseeing the installation and maintenance of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and commercial electrical systems. This is a hands-on role where you’ll ensure that all work aligns with project designs, safety standards, and timelines.

Your Daily Tasks as an Electrical Foreman

Oversee Installation and Maintenance

You’ll lead the team in the installation of service panels, transformers, and conduit systems (EMT, rigid), along with EV charging equipment. Ensuring that installations meet NEC and California Electric Code standards will be a top priority.

Plan and Allocate Tasks

Each day, you’ll plan and delegate tasks to journeymen and apprentices, ensuring the crew operates efficiently and safely. This includes organizing daily work schedules and monitoring progress to adhere to project deadlines.

Perform and Supervise Electrical Work

You’ll be hands-on with conduit bending, wire pulling, labeling, and terminations. Your expertise will also be crucial in troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues using diagnostic tools like multimeters and megohmmeters.

Lead and Mentor the Team

Providing on-site leadership, you’ll coach and mentor team members, ensuring a clean and organized job site. You’ll conduct regular safety meetings and enforce safety protocols, including stop work authority when necessary.

Collaborate with Stakeholders

Working closely with project managers, clients, and other trades, you’ll resolve field challenges to ensure seamless project execution. Communication and collaboration are key components of your daily work.

Manage Documentation and Inventory

You’ll maintain daily reports documenting project progress, labor hours, and material usage. Managing material orders and inventory to ensure project schedules are met is also part of your responsibilities.

Conduct Safety Meetings

Safety is paramount, and you’ll conduct regular safety meetings to promote a safe working environment. Enforcing safety standards and addressing any violations or unsafe conditions is essential.

What You Need to Be an Electrical Foreman

Required Certifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you must have an active and valid journeyman electrician certification from the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial electrical work, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, is required.

Essential Skills and Abilities

You should have extensive knowledge of NEC and California Electric Code, with practical experience in EV charging station installations. Proficiency in conduit bending, wire termination, and troubleshooting electrical systems is crucial.

Leadership and Communication

Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for mentoring apprentices and managing field teams effectively. You must also have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and maintain auto insurance coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

OSHA 30-hour certification and First Aid/CPR are preferred, along with familiarity with construction management software and tools such as Site Tracker.
