Atek Communications is seeking a skilled Commercial Security Systems Specialist to join our team in Herndon, VA. This role is pivotal in delivering enterprise-level integrated security solutions across the Northern Virginia region, including neighboring cities such as Reston, Sterling, and Ashburn. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of security infrastructure, including surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems. This position requires expertise in network architecture, cybersecurity, and system programming, along with the capability to manage complex security projects for our diverse clientele.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and maintain commercial security systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Program access control and surveillance equipment to meet client specifications.
• Configure IP camera networks and VLANs to support secure data transmission.
• Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard security networks from threats.
• Manage credential databases, ensuring data integrity and access security.
• Coordinate with IT teams for seamless network integration and enhancement.
• Supervise the installation and integration of biometric devices for enhanced security.
• Perform system health monitoring to proactively address potential issues.
• Document system configurations and maintain comprehensive testing records.
• Train end users on security platforms to ensure effective system utilization.
• Integrate security solutions with building automation systems for comprehensive control.
• Conduct regular audits and updates to comply with regional security standards in Virginia.
• Collaborate on the upcoming Herndon Technology Park project, focusing on advanced security deployment.
• Ensure compliance with regional regulations and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

• Security+ certification preferred, demonstrating a commitment to industry standards.
• Extensive experience with Video Management Systems (VMS) platforms.
• Proven expertise in access control systems and their implementation.
• Demonstrated ability with IP networking for complex security systems.
• Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive data.
• Certification in security system programming, highlighting technical proficiency.
• Strong IT and database management skills for secure data handling.
• Experience with enterprise security architecture, showcasing strategic capability.
• Clean background check required to ensure eligibility for government clearance.
• 3-5 years of experience required for Journeyman work in commercial settings.
• Familiarity with the technology landscape of Herndon and surrounding areas.
• Knowledge of local security regulations and compliance standards in Virginia.
