Key Responsibilities

Design and install complete electrical systems for commercial construction, ensuring seamless integration and functionality. Calculate voltage drop and load requirements to optimize electrical efficiency. Coordinate with BIM modeling teams to resolve conflicts and ensure precise installations. Supervise the prefabrication of electrical assemblies, enhancing efficiency and reducing on-site labor. Implement complex lighting control systems tailored to meet the specific needs of each project. Install and program fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. Manage material logistics for large projects, coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality. Coordinate overhead rough-in with mechanical trades to ensure seamless integration of systems. Perform startup and commissioning of building systems, verifying performance and reliability. Mentor apprentices in commercial installation techniques, fostering the next generation of skilled electricians.

In the Burlington area, you’ll also be responsible for integrating renewable energy solutions to meet local green building standards. Collaborate with local utilities to ensure compliance with Vermont’s energy codes and regulations. Participate in community outreach initiatives to promote sustainable construction practices. Engage with local trade organizations to stay updated on regional industry trends and developments.

Required Qualifications

Hold a valid Journeyman License with a proven track record in commercial electrical work. Extensive experience with advanced lighting control systems such as DALI and DMX is essential. Demonstrated expertise in fire alarm installation and programming, ensuring the highest standards of safety and reliability. Proficient in using BIM software for effective coordination and conflict resolution. Advanced knowledge of emergency power systems, including design and implementation. Certified in operating multiple types of lift equipment, ensuring safe and efficient work at heights. Strong project management and leadership skills, with experience in overseeing complex projects from start to finish. Familiarity with green building requirements and energy codes, ensuring compliance and sustainability.

Candidates should possess 3-5 years of experience in Journeyman work within a commercial setting. Familiarity with Vermont’s regional electrical standards and codes is highly desirable. Experience working in Burlington’s unique climate conditions, such as winter installations, will be considered an asset.
