At Berg Electric, we pride ourselves on being industry leaders in safety, quality, and innovation, and we are committed to investing in our employees’ growth and career advancement.

As an Apprentice Electrician, you will work alongside experienced journeyman electricians, learning hands-on in real-world environments. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist journeyman electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, lighting, and control systems.
  • Install wiring and conduits: You will be responsible for assisting in the installation of various electrical wiring, conduits, and raceways. This will include both low and high-voltage electrical systems in a wide range of projects, from new construction to retrofitting older buildings.
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics: A key component of your apprenticeship will be understanding how to read, analyze, and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and schematics under the supervision of licensed electricians.
  • Help with the installation of electrical fixtures: As an apprentice, you’ll learn how to install outlets, switches, light fixtures, panel boards, and other electrical components, ensuring that all installations are code-compliant.
  • Gain hands-on experience with various electrical tools and equipment: Under the direction of a journeyman, you’ll use industry-standard tools such as conduit benders, wire strippers, voltmeters, and power drills. You’ll also learn about advanced equipment used in specialized electrical installations.
  • Participate in safety training and adhere to all safety protocols: Electrical work can be hazardous, and safety is our top priority at Berg Electric. You’ll participate in ongoing safety training programs and are expected to strictly follow OSHA guidelines, company safety protocols, and wear proper PPE at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members on complex projects: You will work as part of a larger team, contributing to electrical installations in large-scale commercial and industrial environments. This includes learning how to troubleshoot complex electrical problems under pressure and developing your problem-solving skills.
  • Attend required apprenticeship classes and complete coursework: As part of your role, you’ll be enrolled in an approved apprenticeship program. You’ll be expected to attend classes, complete required coursework, and apply what you learn on the job.
  • Support daily site operations: You will assist in maintaining clean and organized job sites, ensuring all tools, materials, and equipment are accounted for and safely stored. You’ll help set up work areas and prepare for installations.
  • Follow quality control procedures: Ensuring all work is done to the highest standards is critical to Berg Electric. You will assist in verifying the accuracy and quality of electrical installations and repairs to comply with electrical codes, industry regulations, and project specifications.
  • Contribute to timely project completion: Meeting deadlines is essential in this industry. You’ll assist journeymen in ensuring that all tasks are completed on time while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent: A fundamental education is required, and additional coursework in technical subjects, like math and physics, is highly beneficial.
  • Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a recognized electrical apprenticeship program: Apprentices must commit to completing the necessary training through a state or federally recognized program.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory and safety practices: While training will be provided, some foundational knowledge of electrical systems, voltage, currents, and safety practices is expected.
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn: We are seeking apprentices who are dedicated to growing in the field, who are willing to put in the effort to learn and advance their skills.
  • Good physical condition and ability to work in various environments: Electrical work can be physically demanding and often requires lifting, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation: Due to the varied nature of job sites, apprentices must be able to travel to different project locations.
  • Effective communication skills: You should be able to follow instructions and collaborate with team members and supervisors effectively.
  • Problem-solving skills: The ability to think critically and find solutions to complex issues will help you excel in this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electrical codes: Basic knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes is a plus.
  • OSHA safety training certification: Prior safety certifications, especially in the construction industry, are desirable.
  • Experience using power tools and electrical testing equipment: The more familiarity you have with electrical tools, the quicker you’ll be able to contribute to the team.
